Description: GPI provided engineering services for the MEP/FP systems for the new Nuclear Energy Institute Headquarters. The 50,000 sf office is located on two full and one partial floors with a communicating stair. GPI designed a variable refrigerant flow system to provide supplemental cooling to the conference center, mail/copy room, and AV storage room.

Description: GPI developed a new 90,000 sf facility that contains classrooms, a cafeteria, a gymnasium, and an instruction space. The site design included parking and new athletic fields. Heating/cooling systems included a ground-coupled geothermal system. All teaching spaces included natural day lighting and daylighting controls. The onsite septic system was a “living machine” that utilized plants and aquatic life to treat sanitary discharge from the school.

Description: GPI provided MEP/FP design services in the development of studio space in an existing facility at the Marywood University School of Architecture. The space is approximately 30,000 sf. The project included a number of sustainable strategies that contributed to the LEED certification, such as a green roof, daylight harvesting, rainwater harvesting, and radiant cooling.

Description: GPI designed a total boiler room renovation which included replacement of the boilers, fuel oil storage tanks, oil transfer pumps, condensate vacuum pumps, boiler feed unit, chemical feed units, steam header and piping, and other associated and ancillary heating plant equipment. Additional upgrades were made to the boiler room lighting, boiler room sump pumps, hot water heater, gas leak & CO detection system, chimney liner and exit signs.

Description: GPI provided civil and structural engineering for an 81,000 sf two-story elementary school. The building incorporated a gymnasium and cafeteria. The building’s location had site specific requirements, which made for a complex land development process. The building and site design incorporated sustainable features, including a rainwater harvesting system and infiltration of all stormwater on site. GPI also served as the commissioning agent for the project.

The first floor is arranged as a common area to accommodate student needs such as a mail room and an exercise room while the front side of the floor is dedicated to commercial tenants. Each of the remaining 11 floors are for residential use.

The project included the relocation of resources from multiple locations into one 12,700 square foot site in Building 4. Design included upgrades to existing building systems including plumbing, fire protection services, sprinkler systems, utility electrical service, power distribution, UPS, emergency power generation, HVAC, and architectural and structural infrastructure.

Classrooms feature smart boards and a daylight harvesting lighting design.
