Bishop Mullet Creek Tidal Tributary Study

Dennis Avenue is one of the stormwater management bioretention retrofit projects.

Description: GPI performs ecological monitoring and data analysis for the Manatee County East Wellfield, including the Environmental Monitoring Plan and the establishment of four wetland monitoring stations—installing staff gauges, wells and WAP transects—for the purpose of monitoring natural ecological fluctuations as well as those potentially induced by increased wellfield production.

FDOT Mitigation Site Habitat Monitoring

Client/Owner: Tampa Bay Water

Description: GPI provides ecological monitoring and data analysis for the 17,000-acre J.B. Starkey Wellfield and Wilderness Park and North Pasco Regional Wellfield. Monitoring includes water level and opportunistic wildlife to determine natural and man-induced fluctuations in ecological conditions. Every four years, a GIS habitat map of the study area is updated.

Description: GPI assisted in performing a feasibility study to evaluate beneficial aquifer recharge projects using reclaimed water. GPI performed site selection using ArcInfo GIS and readily-available data layers, indentifying sites with suitable hydrogeologic characteristics and outside of regulatory constraints.

Reclaimed Water Aquifer Recharge Feasibility Study

Description: GPI was contracted to assist the Tampa Bay Estuary Program and Southwest Florida Water Management District with a comprehensive inventory of salinity barriers in Tampa Bay and to study and design the removal of a salinity barrier in Old Tampa Bay to restore natural hydrologic flow between tidal tributaries and the Bay. The barrier chosen for removal was at the terminus of Channel 5 in Pinellas County, abutting the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Airport, in Feather Sound.

Salinity Barrier Removal

Description: GPI provided an erosion control study in order to address the extensive loss of sand in front of the main beach front pavilion at Smith Point Beach. GPI prepared a coastal process analysis, performed ecological assessments and provided regulatory coordination for the restoration of 30 miles of Fire Island including Smith Point.

Smith Point Beach Nourishment

Description: GPI was included in the US 113 J-Turns Intersection Improvement Project, the purpose of which was to enhance US 113, improve highway safety characteristics, provide a bike lane and provide drainage improvements. GPI provided survey, wetland and waterway delineation and permitting and stormwater management.

Description: GPI established 10 wetland monitoring stations, installing staff gauges, wells, and WAP transects, in order to monitor natural ecological fluctuations as well as those potentially induced by wellfield production in Oldsmar. Beginning in 2013, post-pumping hydrologic and vegetative conditions were compared to the baseline conditions to identify potential deleterious impacts to wetland water levels and hydroperiods that may be attributed to groundwater production.
