Football Stadium Refurbishment – Morris Hills Regional School District

Description: As part of the Morris Hills Regional School District (MHRSD) football stadium refurbishment, football fields at both Morris Knolls High School (MKHS) and Morris Hills High School (MHHS) were replaced with synthetic turf. Professional services included design of the new synthetic turf football fields, track restoration/repair, field lighting, and new bleachers for both MKHS and MHHS. A new concession stand is being proposed for the MHHS. Also provided the survey, wetland delineation, construction specifications, NJDEP permitting and civil design for this project.

McBride House/Swimming Pool Complex

Description: The New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) has recognized the Indian Trail Club McBride House in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, as a winner of the “New Good Neighbor Award.” Worked with the owner and architect to develop a master plan and a zoning ordinance for the facility. The Township adopted a new zone for the club ending its former status as a conditional use. Prepared a Boundary and Topographic Survey as well as Civil Engineering plans, which included a member’s clubhouse, gatehouse, swimming pool, cabana, mechanical building, parking lots, access drive, pedestrian walkways, stormwater management systems, and a new sanitary sewer system to replace on-site disposal. The project was integrated into existing tennis courts, recreation fields and the lake beach. Site improvements were constructed immediately adjacent to Franklin Lake and contiguous wetlands requiring environmentally sensitive planning and low impact design techniques to obtain NJDEP approvals. Future improvements included in the master plan include expansion of the main clubhouse, parking expansions, a new tennis pro shop and indoor tennis facilities.

Harbor Links Golf Course Facility

Description: GPI designed this 440-acre world-class golf and recreational facility. A key element of site engineering was the remediation and stabilization of severely sloped bluffs as the project was built on an old sand mine. The course was designed to utilize minimal synthetic pest control and incorporated innovative use of recycled water from the Town's adjacent landfill to conserve water.

Lewis Morris Park Cultural Center Upgrades and Doe Meadow Road Improvements

Description:The improvements consisted of modifications to the “Green” area adjacent to Commission headquarters and included additional paved parking areas, a hardscape patio area with landscaping, a grass paver area, new retaining walls and an Adirondack Shelter pad area. Other improvements included expansion of parking lot with retaining walls and equipment storage area. The Cultural Center entrance driveway was completely reconstructed with new geometry to enhance vehicle safety. Improvements included, new widened pavement section, traffic safety improvements, new storm drainage system with new asphalt curbing. Provided construction inspection and construction administration services to the County.

Irving Oil Retail Motor Fuel Outlet and Convenience Store

Description: GPI provided site plans to develop this lot in Hudson’s business district into a multi-use Irving Oil retail motor fuel outlet. There are five retail fueling islands and three commercial diesel fueling islands, as well as a 4,350 square foot convenience store. MHF also provided design plans for an underground fuel storage system which consists of two double wall FRP fuel storage tanks, double wall fuel lines and a state-of-the-art leak detection system.

Mobil / 7 Eleven Retail Motor Fuel Outlet and Convenience Store

Description: GPI provided plans to redevelop this outdated site located in Kittery, ME. The plans included a bigger and more modern 3,200 SF convenience store along with a new overhead fuel canopy. The site only allowed for 3 fuel dispensing islands; however GPI was able to optimize this design and improve traffic flow in and out of the lot. The underground fueling system was also improved and two new fuel storage tanks were installed to improve the site’s nominal fueling capacity.

Narraganset Avenue Road Raising

Description: Preliminary and final design to raise roadway elevations in order to mitigate frequent tidal flooding due to sea level rise, that occurs in this low-lying area adjacent to canals connected to Long Island's Great South Bay. Existing drainage systems were evaluated to improve pipe capacity and mitigate flooding from average storm events. Tide check valves were designed on all storm drainage pipes that discharge into adjacent canals to mitigate roadway and property flooding. GPI also provided full-time construction inspection and support services during the construction phase of this currently.

Greater Jamaica Parking Lots 2 & 3

Description: Design to improve two parking lots involving replacing pavement, rectifying drainage deficiencies, parking optimization, and traffic flow improvements. This project followed New York City Sustainable Streets movement to incorporate landscaping, such as trees and native plants; energy efficient products including LED lighting; recyclable materials that included stabilized mix-in-place asphalt; and various other green products such as Silva Cells for trees and porous pavement for drainage.

AERTC Site Design

Description: As part of this state-of-the-art facility, GPI was responsible for design of the site roadways, parking lots, pedestrian pathways, drainage systems, site utilities, and sanitary systems. The project received LEED Platinum certification. Specifically, the design addressed sustainable storm water collection and recharge methods including bioswales, sediment filtering devices, and an underground cistern to collect roof water. GPI also provided construction support and inspection services as required.
