The Scranton Electric Building, constructed in 1896, reflects the city’s rich industrial history. Fidelity Bank relocated its headquarters from the Commonwealth Pier in Boston’s Seaport to the Scranton Electric Building, bringing approximately 130 employees and job opportunities to the city.
GPI provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP/FP) engineering services for the conversion of the 52,000 sqft Scranton Electric Building into Fidelity Bank’s new headquarters in downtown Scranton, PA. The project included exterior renovations, complete MEP upgrades and a roof replacement.
The design featured a new HVAC system with direct digital controls (DDC), new sanitary piping and plumbing systems, upgraded electrical service with new distribution systems, and natural gas distribution. Building-mounted exterior lighting was incorporated to enhance the building’s façade, while an emergency generator, exit and emergency lighting, and a fire alarm system with electronic access controls were implemented to maximize safety. The renovated building now serves as Fidelity Bank’s corporate headquarters, housing offices, a full-service bank branch, and a Wealth Management Center in a modern and efficient setting.
