DTI (acquired by GPI) provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering design services for Reach Media’s 15,000-SF studio and office. The project’s scope included design for tenant improvements of the equipment room, a studio, a green room with a sink, one pantry area, control rooms, and general office space.
Mechanical scope included design for a dedicated HVAC unit for the studio and a dedicated HVAC unit with redundancy for the equipment room. Electrical scope included design for a natural gas-fueled, standby generator to support the entire space, a UPS to support the equipment room, broadcast technical loads in the equipment room, control room, and studio, power to the studio lighting grid, and a submetering system. As part of an expansion, DTI (now GPI) also provided design services for an additional 9,000 SF of tenant improvements. The expansion space included design for a virtual studio, three interview studios, a production control room, a radio studio, edit rooms, and general office space. DTI (now GPI) evaluated the existing Volant-owned chiller and the base-building air handling unit (AHU) to confirm adequate capacity for the proposed facilities. Mechanical scope of the expansion included design for extending the existing chilled water system and connecting it to the base-building AHU serving the west side of the building. Electrical scope for the expansion included design for the extension of the generator and UPS power to support the new areas, connection of the base-building AHU to Volant’s generator-backed power, and power to the studio lighting grid.
