The Salem Hudson Headwaters Health Network expands primary care access to families in the rural area of Salem, NY. The area experienced mobile health in 2021, where many families established primary care for the first time, which created a growing demand for health care in the community.
GPI provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering (MEP/FP) design and construction phase services for the new 14,000 sqft health center. The design included exam rooms, treatment rooms, a pharmacy, medical storage, and laboratory spaces to support efficient and high-quality patient care.
The mechanical design featured a variable air volume (VAV) system with hydronic reheats sourced from condensing boilers. The plumbing system design incorporated new, high efficiency, condensing water heaters with hot water recirculation. The electrical scope included a stand-by generator, decorative LED lighting with controls, and fire alarm systems. The MEP/FP systems were designed in accordance with the 2018 FGI Guidelines. Following construction, GPI provided commissioning authority project management duties, and provided design review with a focus on controls, written commissioning plan, witness testing, field observation reports/deficiency lists, pre-functional and functional test form development, test execution, and final commissioning report.
