Fox Architects Nuclear Energy Institute

GPI provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering design services for the renovation of Nuclear Energy Institute’s multi-floor office.

GPI initially designed the 50,000-SF, LEED Gold Certified office when the Nuclear Energy Institute moved to this location in 2011. The office includes a broadcast studio and radio studio, as well as an interconnecting stair, and was awarded multiple industry design awards. The renovation included converting a portion of the tenth floor into a new conference center and amenity space, along with lighting and system upgrades throughout the eleventh and twelfth floors. GPI’s scope for the renovation included new LED lighting and controls, power and data distribution for audiovisual equipment, mechanical and plumbing design for the new pantry and amenity areas, and fire protection modifications to suit the reconfigured layout. GPI also provided revisions to accommodate an expanded boardroom, including updated lighting, ventilation load calculations, and relocation of VAV boxes and air devices. The team designed a supplemental air conditioning system for the boardroom, coordinating associated power and downstream ductwork with the electrical and mechanical systems.
