GPI provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural engineering design services for the Drexeline Town Center Medical Office Building and Parking Deck. The first floor of the building is mostly occupied by the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania (CHOP), and the remainder of the first floor, second, and third floors is occupied by Delaware County (DELCO).
Design in the 60,000-SF building included the power distribution system with a 3,000A Main Electrical Switchboard, lighting of the common and back of house spaces, including emergency lighting via a centralized battery inverter, fire detection and alarm systems, and HVAC, including 65 tons of Variable Air Volume-compatible gas Roof Top Units for each floor. The three-story structure is framed with structural steel and composite deck, with steel-braced frames at the elevator cores comprising the lateral resisting system. GPI also designed the adjacent parking deck with one level of elevated parking. This garage is partially below grade and is also framed with structural steel.
