Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. Names New CFO as Michael Buoncore Retires, Becomes Chairman of the Board

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI), an Engineering News Record Top 100-ranked firm, announces the retirement of long-serving Chief Financial Officer Michael J. Buoncore, who has been named Chairman of the Board. In conjunction with this transition, GPI has appointed Robert (Bob) Hough as its new Chief Financial Officer. Additionally, April Hazen Blanco, formerly Senior Corporate Accountant, will step into the role of Corporate Controller following Hough’s promotion to CFO.

Buoncore’s tenure with GPI spans 31 years of driving GPI’s financial growth and operational objectives. As CFO, Buoncore met GPI’s ever-increasing demands for improved accountability and efficiency. He consistently demonstrated a keen ability to drive fiscal responsibility and sustainable growth and played a pivotal role in the creation of the Company’s Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP). In his role he also led all acquisitions and was the executive lead on all the company’s support functions. Buoncore’s appointment as Chairman of the Board follows his commitment to the Company’s success.

“Throughout my time serving GPI as the Chief Financial Officer, I have not only worked with incredibly talented people, but also those who enjoy working together to drive our Seven Strategic Objectives – employee satisfaction, quality product, client satisfaction, financial strength, managed risk, goals-oriented management, and continued growth,” Buoncore explains. “In my new role as Chairman, I look forward to supporting GPI’s continued success.”

Incoming CFO, Bob Hough, brings 28 years of extensive financial and leadership experience with GPI. Hough began his career with GPI in 1996 with the Babylon administrative team before transitioning to Corporate Accounting and then as Corporate Controller in 2007. Hough’s experience in the multi-faceted financial areas within the Company will be an asset in his new responsibilities including the oversight of the accounting and financial needs of GPI.

“As CFO, I will work to strengthen our strategic objectives with continued focus on financial strength,” says Hough. “I am optimistic about the future of GPI and am thrilled to continue building on the strong financial foundation that has been established as we continue to innovate and grow.”

Hough adds, “I’ve had the pleasure of working with many smart, talented people throughout my 28 years with GPI and look forward to continuing to do so.”

Acting as CFO, Hough will oversee day-to-day management of GPI’s corporate accounting department, review operating results, development of budgeting and forecasting systems, and more.

Stepping in his former role as Corporate Controller is April Hazen Blanco, who has been with GPI since 2021. Hazen Blanco brought previous audit accounting experience at a Big Four prior to joining the company and is a New York State Certified Public Accountant. As Corporate Controller, Hazen Blanco will lead day-to-day operations of GPI’s Corporate Accounting team, running point on annual financial and overhead audits, and continue her current work assisting on budget processes.

“I am entirely confident in Bob’s leadership as he steps into the CFO role. He has been a significant asset to GPI, and I am excited to see how his expertise and vision will guide our financial strategy moving forward,” says Patrick Kenneally, President and CEO of GPI. “I’m also thrilled to see April take on the Corporate Controller role—her experience and dedication make her an excellent addition to our leadership team.”

“Upon my retirement from day-to-day operations and transition to Chairman of the Board, I know the continued success of GPI is in great hands,” Buoncore states.
