GPI provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural engineering consulting services for the renovation of this existing Confidential Government Contractor’s office.
The project consisted of a total of 17,500 sqft, with 12,500 sqft allocated to classified space and 9,000 sqft to unclassified areas. The scope of work included design for two new 24/7 air conditioning units and the modification of the power distribution system to accommodate a Tempest Filter and new panels for the sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF) area. Modification to the mechanical system was provided to accommodate the new SCIF layout. A new ADA restroom was also added to the space. Design included a diesel generator and backup power distribution, including an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), and structural analysis for support of the new generator platform.
GPI also provided structural analysis of the existing framing to determine its ability to support new safes, as well as design for supplemental framing for the support of a new operable partition between the café and conference room. GPI also provided structural design for the support of a new exterior sign to be hung from the building’s façade.
