Town of Acton, MA Acton Sewer Main Extension

Recently, they initiated a project dedicated to creating affordable housing units for seniors. This facility, consisting of 37 one- and two-bedroom units for individuals aged 62 and older, will be located along Main Street in Acton. Named after one of the authority’s founders, McManus Manor will offer elevators, modern kitchens, accessibility options and walkable access to various amenities, including a supermarket, banks, retail stores, restaurants, and other services. Before starting construction on the McManus Manor project, an extension of the municipal sanitary sewer main and service area along Main Street is necessary.

GPI conducted an initial feasibility study to explore alternative recommendations for extending the service area. The chosen approach involves installing the sewer main beneath the state-owned Route 2. A Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawing was created, outlining the alignment of the gas main and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) traverses, along with approximate depths at all surveyed locations as per ASCE/UESI/CI 75-22 standards. Currently, GPI is actively engaged in supplying survey, permitting, and design services. This includes tasks such as survey and base plan preparation, utility location, wetlands delineation, and environmental permitting. Additionally, GPI is conducting geotechnical investigations and preparing construction plans, specifications, and estimates.
