Architecture Inc. Monumental Sports Headquarters

GPI, through its acquisition of DesignTech, Inc. (DTI), provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP/FP) engineering design services for the new Monumental Sports office and broadcast facility. This 42,000 sqft fit-out spans two floors and includes a 15,000 sqft broadcast center with production studios, control rooms, and editing suites, as well as 25,000 sqft of modern office space featuring open and enclosed offices, conference rooms, and kitchenettes.

The project included a 2,200 sqft Central Equipment Room (CER) powered by redundant uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems. Broadcast systems were supported by entirely independent mechanical and electrical infrastructure, creating a “building within a building.” This included a dedicated electrical service, a 1,250 kW standby generator, a new chiller plant with dual 150-ton water-cooled chillers and cooling towers, and a fuel storage and delivery system.

To meet aggressive construction timelines, the team developed pre-purchase specifications for critical long-lead equipment such as chillers, air handling units, pumps, the generator, automatic transfer switch (ATS), and UPS systems. DTI also assisted with early lease evaluation to ensure infrastructure compatibility and optimal equipment placement relative to base building systems.

The mechanical design featured 24/7 supplemental cooling, dedicated HVAC systems for each studio with acoustical coordination, redundant cooling for the equipment room, and a standalone building automation system (BAS). Electrical services included UPS-backed power distribution for all broadcast and network equipment, studio lighting power, and temporary service to maintain operations prior to full Pepco service installation.
