The Bonnie Briar Country Club, established in 1921, seamlessly integrates its rich heritage with a classic country club feel.
GPI provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural engineering design services for a major amenity expansion at this private country club. The project included the demolition of an existing 1,000 sqft Tennis Shack and the development of two new facilities: an 8,000 sqft Golf Performance Center and a 1,500 sqft Paddle Hut, along with surrounding site improvements.
The Golf Performance Center features a lounge, bar, tennis pro shop, hitting bays, private offices, single-user restrooms, a corridor, terraces, and storage areas on the main level. GPI’s structural design used a prefabricated wood roof truss system supported by wood-bearing walls, with the floor system constructed of wood framing, TJIs, beams, and posts. A new 4,000 sqft outdoor terrace, replacing the former paddle court terrace, was designed with multi-level platforms, wood framing on concrete piers, and concrete retaining walls.
The lower level of the Golf Performance Center includes a cart barn, ball wash and storage areas, club assembly space, and a cart wash. Structural design for this level incorporated concrete basement walls and a slab-on-grade floor. To preserve the adjacent tennis courts, GPI designed a retaining wall with an “L-shaped” footing along the court edge.
The new Paddle Hut includes a private office, two single-user restrooms, a corridor, storage areas, and an indoor propane fireplace. Structural elements consist of a wood-framed beam and post system supported by concrete pier foundations, with a prefabricated wood truss roof system that accommodates a loft space. An adjacent outdoor terrace was also designed using wood framing on concrete piers.
Additional scope included upgrades to support the transition from residential to commercial-grade appliances.
