Hughes Group Architects Capital One East – Baseball Community Park

GPI provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering design services for the Capital One East baseball field and community park. The ballpark field features a two-story Pressbox Building with restrooms located on the first floor, two sunken dugouts, batting cages, bullpen, concession pavilion, and also incorporated provisions for a seasonal ice-skating rink in the outfield. Our team engineered comprehensive site and parking lot lighting, coordinated advanced field lighting, and integrated power solutions for all field amenities. In collaboration with Musco Lighting, the civil engineering team determined optimal pole locations and load requirements, while GPI ensured seamless power provisions and control systems for peak performance.

The Community Park, named Frances Park, is currently in development. Our designs and scope of work includes MEP efforts for two separate restroom structures and a storage building, along with electrical and plumbing design for a waterfall, pond, and river feature. We are also providing electrical design for the parking lot security gates, card readers, and flagpole lighting including signage.

This project earned the 2024 NAIOP NOVA – Community Enrichment Award of Excellence.
