GPI has emerged as one of the most innovative and progressive firms in quality survey and mapping solutions. We offer traditional survey techniques as well as 3D laser scanning or terrestrial LiDAR for projects ranging from site designs to indoor fit-up plans. In 2014, we purchased our first mobile LiDAR sensor, which is capable of collecting 1.2 million points per second while traveling at highway speeds. This innovative solution has since grown into our ability to capture aerial data utilizing UAVs, as one of the first engineering firms permitted by FAA to offer survey and mapping from a drone platform.

Dulles Airport Automated People Mover Tunnels
Client/Owner: Clark/Shea Construction
Location: Dulles, VA
GPI Contact: William Orsinger, PLS
Description: GPI utilized 3D Laser Scanning at Dulles International Airport to scan four 23 ft diameter bore tunnels consisting of a total of 4,300 track feet. Upon completion of an average bore and shotcrete of 250 linear feet, the lining of the tunnel was scanned. The data was processed to identify areas exceeding the 2" interior design tolerance and delivered within 24 hrs of mobilization.
